Adding PDF Search Support and Icon to SharePoint 2007
Mike Gannotti has instructions posted on his blog for adding the PDF icon to SharePoint 2007 as well as the steps required to install the PDF iFilter and include the File Type in the content index. He even links to the correct places on the Adobe site where you can not only download the iFilter but also the correct 17 x 17 icon. Nice work!
This is one of many posts that I add to my blog to save me to trouble of looking for the link later since I am sure I will refer to it again. J

Hi,
I like your blog’s theme. I too am interested in the same technologies as you do. Matter of fact, we’re shifting to MS SP 2007 now to handle all of our online web applications.
It is my first time to deal with MS SP, I really would appreciate any thoughts that you might have with regards to what components we’ll need to setup and run the website. I’d love to read any recommendations that you think would help in this project.
Hope to see you post again… soon.

Hi,
here is another nice link to that topic: http://www.sharepointblogs.com/ssa/archive/2006/10/13/enabling-pdf-search-in-moss-2007.aspx
(your link seems to be broken)
It is a pity that there is no 64bit version of the Adobe iFilter, since we are running MOSS on a 64bit server. Hence we can’t set up a prober PDF search on it.
Remember you have to install the “icon” feature on your front end servers (if you have any).
Best wishes,
Andy

I was also wondering if you had another link available regarding this subject. The link provided in your blog isn’t working. We just recently installed MOSS 2007 and it has been a learning experience. Thanks!!!
