Customizing SharePoint 2007 Master Pages using SharePoint Designer 2007 (TIP!)

For those of you that are knee deep in master pages, content types, page layouts and the other goodies that come along with MOSS 2007/WSS v3 Master Page Customization here’s a little tip. Turn on the master pages toolbar to quickly identify and jump between content regions (placeholders). You can find it under View, Toolbars

In sps2003, we could edit the editform.aspx and customize the listformwebpart like this

Can we do this with SPS2007 n sharepoint designer? Please comment

    Hi Shane,

I have a question regarding localization of labels on a page – master page or a page layout. So say I have a page that details an entity like a company event. It has a label on the page (asp.net label) that has text set to “Start Date” and a field control that takes in a date value. How do I translate the text “Start date” to another language ?

In asp.net 2.0 you do it using resource files. What or how do you do this in the designer?

    Thanks,
    anabhra

    Hi Shane,

I have a question concerning SmallSearchInputBox. We did an upgrade from WSS to MOSS and everything went fine, except that this standard search box in the left corner of each site is just gone. Having a look at it via the Designer the SmallSearchInputBox is still there, it is enabled and set visible but in the browser there is nothing. Any new site created contains the box but all old ones are not visible. Do you have any idea?
Apart from that, the PageUri points to another machine which is not in the same farm – is there a configuration parameter or can I change it directly?

Thank you very much for your help
    Frank
